  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

Travel safely, Claire! Have fun as well.

Have fun, indeed!

I never get to go anywhere fun for work!

I hope you have some fun and good luck with the presentation!

Yay! Get through that presentation, cuz then you are mine...

Thanks all! Arrived safely, etc. My friends and I are renting a car today and going to San Diego for the zoo! We are beyond excited. Pandas are so much more enticing than powerpoints.

Pandas are exciting except when they attack without mercy. No matter what they look like, they are not cuddly. Despite all their assurances to the contrary, a panda can not be trusted to "just hug you". They are vicious liars.
